| Who are Hear and Now?
Hear
and Now is a confidential counselling service for all young people aged
11-18 who live, work or study in the Redbridge area.
Who are the counsellors
Our counsellors and therapists are all experienced professionals. They come from a wide range of backgrounds. All are qualified, experienced and accredited (or working towards accreditation) with the British Association of Counselling, the British Psychological society or the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy.
What is counselling?
Counselling involves talking about your feelings to someone who can help you make sense of them. Worries could be about relationships, sexuality, abuse or feelings of pressure; you may feel lonely or depressed or you may not be able to pinpoint what's wrong. The counsellor will listen to you and support you in finding ways of coping with issues. No issue is too big or too small.
We will offer an initial meeting, and then normally a time-limited period of counselling. We do sometimes also offer longer term counselling. How can someone arrange to be seen?
A
Young Person can contact us themselves, or alternatively a professional
or parent can let us know that someone might benefit from being seen.
You can download the referral form at the bottom of this page and either
print it out and send it back to us, or else just e-mail is straight to
us, at info@hearnow.org.uk. Alternatively you can phone 0844 600 1154 and someone will take down the relevant details. What
happens then?
We will try to allocate people to a counsellor as quickly as possible. If a professional or parent contacts us then we often ask the young person to confirm by telephone or letter that they actually want to attend for counselling. Where and when will you be seen?
Most appointments are in Central Ilford, but we do also work from some other outreach sites across the borough. Please let us know if you cannot be seen in a particular place.
We offer daytime and evening sessions. There is more demand for evening sessions so there is more chance of being seen sooner if you can be seen in the daytime. Where can you find us?
